Open Question: NEW Oil pressure gauge is stuck on MAX. what did i do wrong?
Posted by adminSep 8
I just recently installed an after market oil pressure gauge (electronic one not machincal) on my 1999 Mitsubishis Eclipse RS. i had to order an oil filter adapter plate so that i could screw in the oil sender unit in. i installed the adapter plate and no leaks. i had the 1 wire out of the unit into the gauge and i turn the ignition on and it jumped right to max (100) maybe a little higher. and then i started the car and drove it around for about 15 min. still stuck on 100. all the connections on correct on the back of the gauge so idk whats wrong?
i checked all the wires because i have 2 other gauges on the pod. and i taped into the lines. so if the other 2 gauges are getting power the oil pressure should too. im guessing the sending unit? all 3 of my gauges are auto-meter. ultra-lite.
vaccum, oil pressure, air/fuel ratio.
never mind i figured it out. the gauge it-self was just turned to many times and the needle calibration was off.. after i spun the gauge sideways the it started working normal. thanks again
