I have 2 different questions about the 5.56X45/.223 and 7.62X39 and AK-47 and AR-15:

1. Has anyone here reloaded both 5.56 or .223 and 7.62X39? If so does the .223 or 5.56 usually come wit a higher powder charge even though the 7.62X39 has a 20% higher case capacity?

I know bullets are never loaded to their max loading because someone told me the 5.56 has a high powder charge because of the higher gas pressure than the 7.62X39. But I know it will vary depending of the makers of the round and the propellant.

2. Which is louder, the 5.56X45/.223 or 7.62X39? Or are they the same?

I know there are many variables about the noise issue such as type of round used, type of propellant, length of barrel and muzzle brake/flash hider.

And yes I know to wear ear protection in fact I wear both ear plugs plus ear muffs on top of that. I went shooting once without ear protection and I’ll never be that stupid again.

But I still like guns that are loud and even though I still double up on ear protection I still like to shoot loud guns. Loudness adds to the cool factor.

So if I had to chose between the AR-15 in 5.56X45 or the AK-47 in 7.62X39 which one wins in the cool factor area?
