If the doctor has found proteins in your urine, sees you have swelling, and notices you have high blood pressure, what are some tests they will perform to confirm preeclampsia?
For example, I need to give a 24-hour urine sample. Are there any other tests they will administer that I’m not aware of?
Oh for goodness sakes, I’m not doing drugs, stop preaching. I’m due in 3 days and don’t want doctors to mess around doing tests when it might just be simpler to induce.

Each time I drink I end up with an increased heart rate, not beating out of my chest but enough to keep me up most of the night.
First off, I don’t have high blood pressure. Actually, I’ve been told I have the blood pressure of a runner although I don’t really exercise. I am a petite female - 110lbs, 5′2. This has been occurring since I was about 20 yrs old - so for about 10 years.

well my friend is due sep 1 and went to the doc today. her husband is in the military and stationed in florida right now so they had planned on inducing her on the 24th…no sooner. well when she went today they decided to keep her and are inducing in the morning, she had really high blood pressure and protein in her pee, why is that a big deal? i mean, what exactly does it mean and what causes it?
okay, well is pre eclampsia (if thats how you spell it) what causes you to swell? cause her face, ankels, hands, fingers, toes, everything has been about 4x normal size since she was 6 months…that is so scary!! i didnt know it was that big of a deal!!
oh yea, i left that part out, the reason they were waiting till the 24th is cause thats when he gets to go on leave, well now they are just hoping that he can get here on emergency leave…but her sisters and mom are with her

I am 40 weeks yesterday I had a doctors appointment my blood pressure was high I was measuring pretty big so he ordered and ultrasound put me on blood pressure medication. I had just had an ultrasound 13 days ago the baby measured 6 lbs 8 oz, well at this ultrasound my baby measured 8 lbs 14 oz! How accurate are these measurements? I know its normal for a baby to grow a lot in the last month but I read its barely an oz a day! Thats more than double average fetal weight gain.

I had a baby 2 months ago and am suffering from a pretty bad case of postpartum depression. I just read somewhere random online that often times thyroid problems can cause depression.
I’m thinking something IS wrong with my thyroid because before I was pregnant I always had high blood pressure (140/80 on average) and had a fast heart rate (usually in the 90’s-100’s). Everyone always assumed it was because I’m about 40lbs over-weight. I eventually had my thyroid checked and found out that it was slightly over-active, but not enough to cause any concern.
Throughout my pregnancy my BP stayed around 130/60 and sometimes lower and my heart rate stayed fast but I guess that’s normal during pregnancy.
After I had my son, I got PPD about a week after and around the same time is when i first noticed my heart rate was much slower. I went to the store and had my BP taken by one of those free machines and it was 125/60. A couple weeks later I saw my doctor and they told me my BP was 110/55. And then I just recently had it done again and it was 100/56. All these times my heart rate has ranged between 70 and 80 BPM.
Anyway, I don’t know if any of this has anything to do with my thyroid, but I’m hopeful that maybe these are signs that my thyroid is under active and is what’s causing my depression??

Im pregnant with baby #3, I am assuming that I will have a c-section due to the fact that I had one with my last 2 pregnancies. My last c-section I actually felt pain while the procedure was taking place. Enough to make me holler out, which is rare for me considering I have a high thresh hold for pain. I’m nervous about this delivery because of that experience, and I wanted to know if anyone experienced the same, and whether or not they know what caused it. I want to know so I know how to handle this situation. I was told that it could be nerve damage from the 1st operation. Someone else said that because it was planned, they didn’t wait long enough for it to fully take effect. I’m not sure, I just know that with my 1st it was an emergency, and the c-section was done about 2 hours after I had received the epidural, and I didn’t feel anything but tugging pressure.

He has been treated for the high blood pressure and his cholesterol is reading 135 total. Does this mean he is at risk for heart attack and stroke because of the 2 or is his cholesterol okay? He is 31 years old and also has asthma. Does any of these conditions cause him risk for anything, especially when combined together?

And by tan, I mean a tan from a tanning bed. I was thinking about doing it and just wanted to know if I would be able to only do it once a month or so?
If you can tell me the difference between low pressure and high pressure beds lasting longer that’d be great too but you don’t have to.
Please don’t give me the ‘it ruins your skin speech’

I am a little more than halfway through my Mini pill birth control pack and today noticed a little spotting. I am confused about when I will get my period on this pill since there is no sugar/placebo pills?
Just concerned because my boyfriends birthday is next week and I don’t want this problem of the month to get in the way…
I am on progesterone only pills because I have high blood pressure.
I am 20 years old.
